There are many people who try to lose weight, some will succeed and some will fail, however, the biggest battle for people who can reduce their weight is often to maintain their ideal weight. Many people will find that they have quickly regained the weight they were before continuing their diet or that they are actually fatter. Of course, this can be very depressing and can cause them to lose much of their self-esteem. What is needed is a permanent solution to your weight problems.
There are some obvious routes to take in the battle to lose weight. They would include increasing the amount we exercise and reducing the amount we eat. It is this eating problem that can be the most difficult to control and reduce, as our temptations often take hold of us.
In my opinion, what we have to do is turn our house into a fat-free zone. If we are hungry and we start looking in cupboards and notice, for example, a packet of potato chips, it can often be very difficult not to eat them. Our desire for instant food can become too great and our inner demons try to convince us that a package will not hurt. If that packet of fries hadn’t been in the closet, they wouldn’t have put us in that position of temptation and, of course, we wouldn’t have been able to eat them.
Some years ago when I started to lose my own excess weight, I decided to remove all the food from all the cupboards that I was aware that I had to stop eating. I also eliminated certain beverages, such as alcoholic beverages, which also contributed to my weight problems. I put all the takeout menus I had in the trash can and basically tried to make it as difficult as possible for me to eat or drink anything that shouldn’t have been.
When I was away from home, I had to be determined to stick with my diet and not be tempted to buy any of these items in stores, etc. This was not easy to do as I am someone who loves all these fatty type foods.
At my weekly grocery store I bought a lot more fruits and vegetables and was amazed at how quickly my taste buds started to change. I soon felt like eating an apple as an example and the weight began to slowly but surely drop.
After several months I reached a weight that I was happy with. My wife said that she now she could start eating things like dry roasted peanuts, this was one of my favorites. This was possibly true, but it could easily result in a return to my old bad habits and, of course, weight problems. I decided to keep the fruit and my cabinets are still free of those foods that I love to eat but are not good for my weight.
